Feature Freeze

With 1.0b3 just released, and final documentation in progress, Opal is now feature frozen. (There may still be minor changes to the Help menu.)

However, I'd still love to hear what people would like in future releases. Post a new topic here, or file it to our database (Help > Report a Bug).

BTW, I surprised myself by what got squeezed into this release. Most were small changes that I think improve usability, notably to multiple selection (details are at http://a-sharp.com/opal/releaseNotes-1.0b3.html).

Let's see ...

1. Visual font menu to allow setting font's without font panel

2. Arrow keys move topics when topics are selected and cursor when text is selected (come on people, let's get on David about this! :-)

3. 'Office' mode that completely emulates Microcrap Office so that we don't have to buy their products!

I'll try to think of more.

<Round of applause for David!>

1. The "visual" font menu thing can slow things down a bit when you have a zillion fonts, sometimes through no fault of your own (like when they come stowed away in some app).

2. "Arrow keys move topics when topics are selected and cursor when text is selected" ... kinda like a spreadsheet?  Interesting idea.  Could open up a way to deal with the overloading of the arrow keys.  Such as the fact that command-arrows don't go to the edge (top/bottom/BOL/EOL) as God intended. and like they do in text everywhere else on Planet Mac.

The more I think about this one, the more I like it.  It requires a quick and simple way to between typing and manipulating ... and as I wrote in "Deselecting all", ESC would work fine for getting out of text.  For getting back in ... we'll have to grind on that one for a while.  Maybe option-ESC or command-ESC?  (For reentry to the same point)

3.  "'Office' mode that completely emulates Microcrap Office" ... completely?  All the way down to the sharp stick in the eye?
