One of the design goals was to make sure Opal was up to date with Mac OS X standards. So pretzel-A needs to be Select All, not New Aunt.
But if your synapses are wired for Acta, you can in fact use Keyboard Shortcuts in System Preferences to change things around. (You'll need to quit and restart Opal to have the changes reflected.) I've done only minimal testing of this, so post here if there are any tricks.
Expand and Collapse are separate menu items because when you have more than one topic selected, it's possible that both are applicable to at least one selected topic.
Hi,
I know this is an old topic but I've just found it via Google and would like to know your opinion about the following idea. I also like to have a single toggle menu for those menu commands. I often expand a topic and then immediately collapse it just in order to check the contents of its sub-topics. If the menu is a toggle, I can just hit the keyboard shortcut twice. With the separate menus, however, it is not that easy. In case of the multiple selection, how about just to expand all the selected topics if some of them are expanded and the others are collapsed? Then, you can just hit the shortcut twice to collapse all selected topics. The same thing can be implemented for grow/shrink menus. What do you think?
Opal is just what I'm looking for in an outliner. But one question: Is there a way to have "pretzel a" select the entire outline instead of just a subtopic? I'm a compulsive keyboarder and am always looking for keystrokes to replace mouse clicks.
